Hi all-

I've been researching winter tires for the upcoming 07-08 season. This site has been great so I thought I should register. I did so yesterday, but still have not received a confirmation email. Does it take a few days?

Anyway, I should say that I have decided on the General Tire Altimax Arctic 195/65/R15 for my Hyundai Elantra. I chose this tire because of information I read here that indicated that the Altimax Arctic is really a rebranded Gislaved NordFrost 3. I am getting them installed next weekend right after Thanksgiving at Tire Warehouse. I was quoted $69 each installed, no studs.

Interestingly enough, the sales guy knew they were the same molds/materials as the discontinued Gislaved NF 3s, but he tried to get me to buy the NF 5s for $90 each. He claimed the old NF 3s had iffy sidewalls that had a history of "cracking" if you hit pot holes, curbs, etc...I took it to mean that he was trying to up-sale me. Any truth to sidewall concerns with the NordFrost 3s? I will post pictures and reviews throughout the season, assuming I get log in info soon.

I usually try to approve stuff within 24 hours. I checked, and I don't see anything waiting. Send me an email with the name you tried to register, and I will see if it was approved.

BTW, occasionally spam blockers get too aggressive and try to remove stuff form "snowtire.info". You might want to whitelist (mark as not spam, allow, etc) "*@snowtire.info" to be safe.
