At the end on this summer, I bought a set of 14" rims for my Talon. There was used remolded winter tires installed on the rims (Techno Ultra traction) so I figured I would test them this winter before unmounting them.
The result: WOW! I've kept them on.
Although I never had first class winter tires, I can honestly say that these are the best that I have ever owned (Compared to Good Year Utra Grip HP, used Toyo Observe, Canadian Tire's Nordic) Great grip on acceleration and braking on the ice and on the snow (they are slim, 185/75/14). They are a bit above average for lateral grip though.
Then I searched on the net for information about the company or the remolding process. That company is in Quebec but there is other company using the same technology. I think this company also market remoulded tire under the Moldex brand.
The model that I have is available with GreenDiamond silica compound (59$ canadian without and 71$ with GreenDiamond) although I think mine has no silica in it. In fact, the Techno Ultra Traction has the same tread as the GreenDiamond one.
The maximum tire pressure written on the sidewall is 55psi but I run them a 35psi with no problem.
Only one "problem": One of my rear tire has a couple of small crack on the sidewall but I can't say if this is related to the remolding process of the first owner utilisation of the tire.
